Welcome to our Nursery
We admit children into our Nursery the term after their third birthday. Because our intake is small, Nursery children are taught in an Early Years Unit with Reception children, which really helps to develop their language, cooperative skills and independence. However, they still have their own Nursery programme tailored to their needs and maturity, which is planned by a trained Early Years teacher.
Nursery runs for three full days, 9.00 - 3.15, on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and mornings only on Thursdays. Afternoon provision Monday to Wednesday will be of the same quality as in the morning, with a mixed age class of Reception and Nursery pupils. On a Thursday, the Nursery at Whitley Chapel School runs from 9.00 - 12.00. Nursery pupils are invited to stay an additional half hour to have lunch in school, and most parents choose this option. Meals are charged at £2.00 per day and are very popular with the children. Parents collect their children at 12.00pm if they do not wish them to stay for lunch, and 12.30 pm if they do.
Our Nursery is spacious, bright and well equipped, with an outside covered area that we use all year round. We also have a small yard and garden area, a large yard, and a fantastic Early Years playground, with equipment designed especially for younger children.
Parents are welcome to come and look around the Nursery for a visit prior to admission. Please contact the school office to arrange a time.
