Here is a flavour of some of the things we did to celebrate Book Week March 2017
We had a special assembly where we all dressed up as book characters.
We all joined in - even the staff!
There were some fantastic costumes ...
People had been reading some very interesting stories ...
... And tried really hard with their costumes.
We had lots of fun dressing up!
We read stories to each other in different classes.
It was lovely to see the older children ...
... reading so well to the younger children.
We have some great readers in Whitley Chapel School!
We had a fantastic visit to Wallington Hall, with a tour of the attics and the cellars, hearing tales of days gone by.
We heard how girls from Westgate School in Newcastle were evacuated to Wallington during the war, and slept in the attics.
We followed a Treasure Hunt around the Tall Tale Tree trail and found all sorts of exciting things in the woods!
We found a magic spell to keep the Dragons away ...
... And saw some beautiful flowers in the sunshine.
Class 1 read out the stories they had written based on Dyan Sheldon's 'The Whales song'.
They made puppets from their stories and performed them to Class 2.
Class 2 made Shadow Puppet theatres and Shadow Puppets from the story of Daedalus and Icharus.
They used torches to help them show the story to Class 1.
We went to Cogito Books in Hexham to spend our World Book Day vouchers and prize winning book tokens. We enjoyed having a story read to us.
Here we are at the end of a busy but fun week, relaxing with a book at Hexham Library!
